ITS TIME MORE BODIES FELT AT HOME IN YOUR GYM

Diversity & Inclusion gym consulting and team training

Public spaces (and in particular, those that promote health) should feel inclusive to all and sadly, mainstream gym culture has a long way to go. There is a distinct lack of inclusivity in gyms where the gender binary is still pronounced, often celebrated, where classes are geared towards CIS women through heteronormative (and often sexualised) ideals of bodies and the free weights area remains a CIS-male dominated place of great intimidation (for both CIS women and the LGBTQ community).

HOW IT WORKS

I can offer simple strategies working alongside your leaders and teams to help you build an inclusive gym culture, where growth is inevitable.

  • How to implement practices that make asking for pronouns a normal, every day experience.

  • Understanding and implementing safer and more inclusive environments for changing and exercise spaces

  • Encouraging the use of more inclusive language and resisting the urge to genderise certain exercises and classes

  • Compassionate coaching practices that do not make assumptions about someone’s gender, aesthetic goals or even their reasons for being in the gym

  • How to encourage safer communities where real transformation can take place for any body.

  • Encouraging open conversation and support between leaders and team members so that ongoing education is a given
